Accommodation – Grays Court Hotel
Start your holiday in York by checking into your truly luxurious, boutique hotel, Grays Court. The hotel is located just minutes from York Minster and dates back to the 11th century. It has played host to kings, knights and is one of the most historic buildings in England. It boasts is delightful walled garden overlooking the ancient city walls, an ideal space to enjoy in warmer months. There’s also a superb Jacobean gallery to relax in over a coffee, a tranquil library with an excellent collection and a beautiful dining room where you will enjoy your breakfast each morning. We book Gray’s extra luxurious and spacious rooms.
Your stunning room features lovingly restored furnishings, separate seating areas that overlook the garden or courtyard. Luxurious bathrooms feature a bath with monsoon shower overhead, complete with clarins products.
Deluxe suites also feature a separate seating area, overlook the city walls and have roll top baths as well as a separate shower. We might even be able to book you into the one room with views of York Minster.
We know that one of your main reasons to visit York is to immerse yourself into its history and there’s no better place to stay to do that.
You will enjoy the very best of what York has to offer on the culinary front.
Your first award-winning dining experience is at Le Cochon Aveugle. Featuring an 8 course blind tasting menu, this restaurant is one of our all time favourites. Located in York’s foodie strip, Walmgate, you could begin your romantic evening at their wine bar, just a short stroll from the restaurant. Menus change not just by the season, but also by the local produce available. Chef, of British menu fame, Joshua Overington, is passionate about food and its origins. His cooking is infuenced by French cuisine but uses only the very best of Yorkshire’s produce. His partner, Victoria manages the front of house. You can opt to match each dish with their wine pairing option – go on, you’ll love it!
For your second included dining experience, we’ll booked you in for a contemporary light lunch at Skosh. Offering small plates of deliciousness, Skosh has risen to fame having only been open for a very short time. Chef, Neil Bentinck, fuses Asian influnces with Yorkshire produce to create snacks and small dishes that will delight the palate. The dining space, with an open kitchen is buzzing and stylish. You will find it very hard to choose your 6 plates – everything is fantastic and a surprise. Enjoy!
For your final dining experience, we’ll book you into The Whippet Inn. We think they offer the best Yorkshire beef in town. Step inside and you’ll get a real taste of what the best British pubs are like. Begin the evening in their bar sipping on a specialist gin and tonic then settle into their stylish dining space for a 2 course meal.
