Atelier 22 is located on one of our favourite streets in York. This romantic and chic studio is on the lower ground floor of a rather magnificent Victorian property. The location is fabulous. A short stroll through the charming museum gardens takes you to the centre of York. The studio boasts a carved French bed, the kitchen is sleek and the wetroom has a rain shower.

Lendal Tower is a truly unique place to stay. Dating back to 1299, this is a place steeped in medieval history. Located right on the river Ouse and next to our beloved museum gardens, it’s hard to beat. The interiors are just as magnificent so if your budget can stretch to this price bracket, we don’t think you can go wrong.

A rather splendid townhouse with its own courtyard literally a minute from York Minster. Sleeping 8, you’ll feel like you’re living a Jane Austin novel here. Set over 3 floors, the townhouse has been sympathetically and lovingly restored. With its location just around the corner from Deans Park, it’s a hidden gem. There’s something quite special about staying somewhere where you hear those magnificent Minster bells chime out.

TREMBLING MADNESS APARTMENTS
Best for: quirky stays, families of 3-4
Tucked down an alleyway in a hidden courtyard off arguably York’s prettiest street. these apartments are anything but ordinary. The detached building is over 600 years old. Both apartments are set over 2 floors and are packed with entertainment and home comforts. The old stonegate gallery is 60s / 70s retro / kitsch whilst the haunted chamber is ‘days gone by’ with wood panelling, a four-poster bed and freestanding bath. A truly unique stay awaits but beware, rumour has it that they’re haunted.

We were lucky enough to stay in one of these stunning apartments for 3 weeks when we first arrived in York.
