Bed & breakfasts can offer excellent value for money compared to many hotels. We only feature B&Bs that we think are in great locations, have a foodie focus, and are individual in some way.
Our top picks
1. STAYMOR IN THE CITY
Best for: delicious breakfast bags, self check-in, super comfy beds
£80 – 135 per night/ room
Staymor in the City is located just outside the city walls, and is very close to both the city centre and the railway station. You will enjoy delicious breakfast bags delivered to your room and all rooms boast super comfy king-size beds. All rooms are ensuite and have desks as well as tea/coffee making facilities. It’s been tastefully refurbished and offers free wifi and on street parking. We really like the concept of self check-in in a b&b…it doesn’t feel like you’re staying in someone’s house yet offers all the home comforts for a home away from home. Another added bonus is its around the corner from the thriving ‘Bishy’ Rd, voted Britain’s best high street in 2018.
2, ASHLEY GUEST HOUSE
Best for: value for money, breakfast options & home-made treats on arrival
£75-90 per night/room

There’s the local “Bishy Rd” village, with a great selection of independents, including some of our favourite cafes and coffee shops. This B&B has 6 lovely rooms, each unique and homely. Ashley House prides itself on serving delicious breakfasts, with locally sourced produce and very good coffee! We think it offers excellent value for money.

It’s a short stroll to the beautiful Museum Gardens, and from there you’re in the heart of York within 10 minutes. This is a rather grand Victorian property with lovely clean and comfortable rooms boasting those extra little treats such as delicious biscuits to enjoy with your Taylors of Harrogate tea, Bathrooms boast H2K toiletries, also from Harrogate.
